To recertify for backyard services, you must submit the Backyard Service New/Renewal Application (below) that includes a certified statement from a licensed physician which states the resident is 70+ years of age or has physical limitations that prevent the placement of garbage and recycling carts at the curb.

The deadline for re-certification in 2026 is July 31st. RE-CERTIFICATION FOR BACKYARD SERVICE IS REQUIRED ANNUALLY.

An incomplete form, missing document, and failure to recertify by the deadline will cause service delays and/or removal from backyard service.

The completed document can be submitted to DPW through either of the channels outlined below.

Submit form via web

Fax – (404) 739-4800
Walk-in − 55 Trinity Avenue SW, Suite 4700, Atlanta, GA 30303

Questions? Please email pwsettlements@atlantaga.gov.

City of Atlanta trucks must be able to enter the driveway for collection, and the backyard must be accessible to DPW personnel; otherwise, backyard service cannot be provided.

SERVICE CANCELLATION: To cancel backyard service, please email your request to pwsettlements@atlantaga.gov or fax 404-546-9073. Be sure to include the resident’s name and service address, as well as the sender’s name if it differs from the resident.
