Trail and park users should call 911 to report any suspicious or criminal activity.

The Atlanta BeltLine has a long-standing partnership with the Atlanta Police Department (APD). In 2013, APD formed the Path Force, a unit of 15 officers and three (3) supervisors, who are dedicated to patrolling the Atlanta BeltLine trails, as well as the adjacent parks and neighborhoods.

Security cameras have been installed along the Atlanta Beltline. The security cameras tie into APD’s citywide Video Integration Center. Mile markers are tied into APD and EMS for emergency response coordination. To assist City workers and emergency response personnel, use the BeltLine Emergency Response Mile Marker signs which are located on every light pole with a unique number to identify the precise location (example below).

Beltline Smart Cities: Safety Features
Digital wayfinding kiosks are being installed along the trail, including at all four Atlanta Beltline Marketplace locations. Designed to help people navigate the trail and nearby neighborhoods and serve as an accessible resource for visitors without phones, they offer directions, local information, and safety messaging—including a reminder to call 911 in an emergency. Future features may include Wi-Fi access to support calling, reporting issues, and connecting to information. The kiosks do not include an emergency button and are turned off daily from 12:00 AM to 5:00 AM.

Atlanta Beltline Ambassadors

The Ambassador Hospitality Program enhances the Beltline’s visibility along the trail and reinforces our ongoing commitment to engaging the public in shaping the project.
Ambassadors receive training in safety protocols, including CPR and First Aid, and are also knowledgeable about the Beltline’s infrastructure, enabling them to identify and report maintenance needs to City of Atlanta’s Department of Parks and Recreation’s Beltline Maintenance Division.

Relay Smart Radios provide seamless communication among Ambassador team members and offer advanced features such as real-time language translation in more than 30 languages.

The program recently expanded to cover all active trail segments, including the Southeast and Southwest Trails. Ambassadors will also operate along the Westside Beltline Connector during the FIFA World Cup, helping to support visitors and enhance the overall trail experience.
